Emil Josef Diemer, father of the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit, also played the DDG. However, the crazy sacrifice of the e4-pawn, which constitutes the DDG, is mentioned only in very few books; a rare exception is Gambit Chess Openings (2002) with its fresh analysis as a response to the DDG site.
